Tis the season

Friday!!! Thank goodness, this week has seemed so hectic. However, this evening Newgravy and I went shopping for supplies for our wreaths we're going to attempt to make next week! I'm excited, it was fun picking out sparkly everything to put in what we hope to be our BEAUTIFUL wreaths! Although ours will be traditional green wreaths with random sparkly colors in them, these yarn wreaths have been very inspirational to me. Check more of them out at Itz Fitz Etsy Shop Yay for the holiday season!!

Well it's been a LONG time! Taking 6 classes, working more than I'm used to, and trying to fit in some kind of social life leaves very little time for blogging! However, it's getting close to the holidays and a new year which leaves tons of things to blog about!

I'm not much of a headband wearer (no good reason why) but I absolutely love these headbands. This is just one of her many handmade pieces.

You can find more at her etsy shop: The Candy Thief

Not much more to discuss on this rainy day in Georgia. My boyfriend (that I've mentioned many times in previous posts) has been in Japan all month. He is a wrestler and he got the opportunity to go to Japan for the month of October and train and wrestle in tons of shows there with a company called Zero1. I miss him more than I ever miss most things (old Nickelodeon television shows being one of them) but he's coming home soon. I'm glad he made it through everything in once piece. Here's a link to video to check out that was posted on the website for the people he's been working with, he's the bearded one with the hat. Enjoy! =)

My Best Friend

I have a confession. Even though I don't plan to get married for quite some time, I LOVE weddings! I think a girl especially, spends her whole life planning her wedding. There is something beautiful and magic about each and every unique wedding. It seems like every one I know is either getting married or just got engaged. It's summer time and wedding fever for most people is in the air! As I said before, I want to wait til after I finish school to get married, but lucky for me the idea of weddings and my wedding obsession in general hasn't scared Kyle off yet. =) Over time he's learned to shrug his shoulders when I come up with crazy ideas and say his famous line "Whatever you say dear." Most times that line makes me want to scream into a raging fit at him haha (maybe not quite that intense) but when it comes to wedding planning he is right, other than him refusing to show up at a wedding that involves purple, whatever this dear says goes! Hopefully I don't see myself being a bridezilla in my future! Just kidding of course ...

Anyway while searching through my usual wedding blogs/sites today at work I have come across the most beautiful inspiring "vintage garden backyard wedding." Lately I've been on a ho-down kick in which my wedding consists of ribs (yes I know, I'm a veghead) corn on the cob, beer, beans, taters and all the fixins. I pictured my friends and family drinking beer and square dancing through the night (trust me, it's a lot prettier in my head and pictures than I just made it sound in words). But this budget friendly vintage garden wedding has given me new and inspiring ideas for something much more romantic! I'm not sure what kind of food would go with this theme BUT enjoy ...

Read all bout her wedding here. It's beautiful!!!

Rainy Night in Georgia

After spending a million hours trying to recreate my blog once I accidentally deleted my entire layout I don't even feel inspired to write a real entry today. So here's to a rainy memorial day weekend!! [I think rain is Mother Nature's way of INSISTING that I invest in rain boots!]

Fly Away Home

At my dad's work he's spent the past few months basically taking care of a male and female goose (as much as I want to call them Ricky and Lucy, it hasn't seemed to catch on so for now we'll call them Mr. and Mrs. Goose). He started off just randomly feeding them some leftover bread, now they're eating Nature's Own bread and drinking fresh Dasani water out of a clean bowl. People come to his work just to visit the geese and he's had more than one person buy him bird seed for the geese. He can whistle and Mr. and Mrs. Goose will come running. A while back, Mr. and Mrs. Goose lost their babies, they will still eggs but we think something ate them. However, although we read online that geese only lay eggs once a year, Mrs. Goose magically laid more eggs. For the entire month or however long it was that Mr. Goose was being a jerk and not letting Mrs. Goose off her nest, my dad thought she was having some kind of fake "pregnancy". Turns out ... there were BABIES!!! Last week I got a phone call for with the news. It's kind of crazy how obsessed the entire Wilson family is becoming with these geese. =)

Now my dad is in charge of an entire flock. He's now feeding all of them bird seed and bread and making sure they have plenty of fresh water. Yesterday we pulled up to see them because I hadn't seen the babies yet and someone  let their child TAKE A BABY!!! We pulled up at the moment that the kid was running back into her car stealing one of the baby geese. Why would you ever allow your child to do that? My dad pulled up and maybe not so kindly told the people to give him the baby. The rest of the Goose family was already turning around heading back to the water because they thought there was nothing they could do to save the baby. The kid gave the goosling (I'm pretty sure that' snot the proper term for baby goose) back to my dad and Mr. and Mrs. Goose allowed him to set the baby back on the ground by them and they all as a happy (and traumatized) family waddled back to the water. Hopefully those people aren't coming back any time soon. They stole the baby right from it's parents, it was horrible! =(

We want to put a sign up that says don't touch the geese but we're not sure how to make it water proof without spending lots of money. Hopefully if someone sees a sign they might think twice before touching! But as for now the family is all back together, Mr. and Mrs. Goose and baby geese are happy and the Goose Whisperer (aka my Dad) still remains the "flock leader". Who knows, maybe he'll be building a plane and flying them further south (Fly Away Home) haha but for now here's some pictures of the family!!

On another note, I'm attempting to work my gardening skills. We live in an apartment so right now I only have these mini plants. There are marigolds and ... something else (I'm already starting out as the worst gardner ever) but we'll see how it goes!

Update: Someone (we assume the same people) came back at night and took one of the baby geese. What jerks!

Way You Love Me

I think one of my new favorite blogs is Today's Letters. I absolutely love her writing style and the pictures she posts. There's nothing super fancy about it and it's so easy and charming to read. This blog inspired me to point out the little things I love about Kyle. So now I will write him a letter of my own. However you should definitely check her blog out, she writes 1 sentence letters to everything she loves throughout her day. I didn't want to copy that style so I just chose one thing, well person to write a letter to.

Dear Boyfriend,
In the past 5 days you've called me your lobster and your goose [both of with one mate for life] and told me you loved me more than chocolate [aka YELLOW] cake and 100 pounds of crab legs. You listened to me gossip about someone shooting my Chuck Bass and just shook your head and when I assumed a 30 ot 6 was a 24 pack, not a type of gun. You didn't get annoyed as I fidgeted through 2 1/2 hours of Robin Hood and you stayed in the fetal position for an entire 60 seconds rather than just tucking in your shirt trying to get Tyler to guess TUCK for pictionary/charades. I knew there was a reason I picked you!! =)
Love, Me

Killer Tofu

First off, check out this cute Vegan site [The Flying Vegan]

Ok now to the original post:
Yay I can cross 1 thing off my list! Last night my family had chicken fingers and fries and as I've written before I don't eat meat (unless it's a hot dog at the Braves game or Varsity catering at Kyle's grad party). Hot dogs are my veg head weakness. Anyway, that's beside the point. My cousin Melissa (over at nunnally family fun) saw cooking tofu on my 23 before 24 list and sent me this delicious tofu recipe. I'm not much of a cooker and tofu is much harder than it looks to cook perfectly BUT my dish (pictured below) turned out surprisingly well. Maybe tofu cooking is in my future ... ha I highly doubt it. But I figured I needed to post things I'm crossing off my list. Not sure what I'll cross of next, hopefully something fun! But for now enjoy the tofu picture and I'll post the recipe too!! Happy Friday!!!!

Crispy Tofu & vegetables

2 cups snow pea pods (8 oz)

1 12-16 oz package light, reduced fat, or regular extra firm tub-style tofu, drained

3 Tbsp reduced-sodium teriyaki sauce or soy sauce

1/4 cup yellow cornmeal

1/8 tsp ground red pepper

2 tsps toasted sesame oil

1 medium red sweet pepper, cut into thin strips

1 medium yellow sweet pepper, cut into thin strips

8 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces

2 tsp cooking oil

1 Tbsp white or black sesame seeds, toasted(optional)

1. Remove strings and tips from pea pods. Set aside.

2. Cut tofu crosswise into eight 1/2" slices. Arrange slices in a single layer in a 2 quart rectangular baking dish. Pour 2 Tbsp of the teriyaki sauce over tofu; turn slices to coat. Let marinate at room temperature for 15 minuntes.

3. In a shallow dish combine cornmeal and red pepper. Drain tofu, discarding marinade. Carefully dip tofu slices in cornmeal mixture; press gently to coat both sides. Set tofu slices aside.

4. Pour 1 tsp of the sesame oil into a large nonstick skillet. Preheat over medium high heat. Stir fry sweet pepper strips for 2 minutes. Add pea pods and green onions; stir fry for 2 to 3 more minutes until crisp-tender.

5. Remove skillet from heat; stir in remaining 1 Tbsp teriyaki sauce. Transfer vegetable mixture to plate; cover to keep warm. Wipe skillet clean.

6. In same skillet heat remaining 1 tsp sesame oil and cooking oil over medium high heat. Cook the coated tofu slices for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until crisp and golden brown, using a spatula to turn carefully. Serve tofu slices over vegetable mixture. If desired sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Life is a Highway

Newgravy and I haven't made any lists in a WHILE (besides our funny hatelist on facebook which is not positive enough to post on my blog) =) Our negativity is all in good fun. So today I'm going to make a 23 before 24 list. As I wrote a few posts ago, I just turned 23. There is a ton of stuff I'd LOVE to do before I turn 24. I'm already 13 days into 23 and haven't done one of them. Maybe if I make the list I'll be more productive!?

23 before 24
  1. Graduate college (so I'll actually be 24 when I graduate BUT it'll be a few days after my       birthday so this is my only cheater goal, I'll be taking finals on my birthday or near it)
  2. Buy a fancy pair of jeans and get them tailored to fit perfect
  3. Revamp my wardrobe/style (including shoe collection)
  4. Make some kind of tofu recipe
  5. Go on at least 15 new dates with Kyle (not our same regular restaurants, movies, sports       games)
  6. Take more pictures of my parents
  7. Learn how to properly use a curling iron without just being able to make my hair flip out
  8. Attempt to water ski again
  9. Buy Kelly Cutrone's book If You Have to Cry Go Outside (have I ever mentioned on here     she is my complete PR/power girl inspiration!)
  10. Bake my dog treats
  11. Redo my bedroom in "grown-up" colors
  12. Help plan a themed party
  13. Make a dish for Thanksgiving
  14. Document an entire day in my life in camera
  15. Take my dog to walk up Kennesaw Mountain again
  16. Have a batting average over 500 by the end of the season
  17. Go visit Mark in Tallahassee
  18. Run/Fast Walk a marathon
  19. Find new places in Atlanta to play trivia
  20. Make my family start recycling
  21. Go to Nashville (after it's fixed from the floods) =(
  22. Go to a flea market/find new thrift stores to check out
  23. Volunteer for a charity (I will take any charitable suggestions)

Woo 23 is a lot more than I thought. Even if I get half of these done, I will be happy!

Carry On

So it's finals week and I'm feeling VERY uninspired to blog! Today I had 3 tests and one more on Wednesday. Then only 3 more semesters (which feels like a lifetime) to go! I'm pretty sure my bestie NewGravy has used this picture in a blog before but I LOVE it and it remaining calm and carrying on through my week of tests!! Hopefully next week's blogs will be more inspiring but as for now this is about all I have =)

What's my age again?

I Want You To Want Me

So this week's list is on celebrity crushes over my entire lifetime! It was hard to pick only 5 because I think there are a million celebs that are attractive in general whether it be their good lucks, witty attitude, their uncontrollable sense of humor or just their boyhood charm. However, I managed to narrow it down to a top 5 of all time (going from #5 to #1 ... however 1 and 2 might be a tie). Here's my list!!

#5. The ever famous JTT [aka Jonathon Taylor Thomas]
JTT spent his childhood charming teens and tweens across the country. I know I used to write I [heart] JTT all over EVERYTHING I owned that I could get away with writing on! I'm 100% positive I wasn't the only girl using my gel pens to scribble out those 3 letters whenever I got a chance!

#4. Will Smith [Mr. Fresh Prince]
I've loved Will since his Fresh Prince days. I'm not sure if it's sense of humor, good looks or charming perosnality. I'd say it's the whole package. Even in his older age the Fresh Prince will still always remain on my top 5!

#3. Leonardo Dicaprio!
I have to admit I swore of being in love with good ol Leo in his Jack Dawson days. I refused to make myself part of the fad. But now that Leo and I have both gracefully aged =) I think he is great! There is never a bad movie he stars in (even Titanic). His good looks don't hurt either!

#2. Matthew McConaughey
Am I aloud to say I'm mostly just in love with his voice. I do find him incredibly attractive as well but that voice drives me ccccraaaaazy!!!! I've been in love with Mr. McConaughey since as long as I can remember. I've dreamed of being Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Garner or anyone else that has had the opportunity to hear his voice for countless hours while filming. And for the record if I would have been on the jury in A Time To Kill, I would have swooned over Attorney Briggance's speeches and testimonies!!

#1. Finally, Heath Ledger!

Heath will always always always be the man whether he was creeping his way around Gotham City as the Joker or spending his days charming Kat. All of Heath's movies will be my favorite and I think that the big screen was lucky to have such a talented man fulfilling so many leading roles.

Just to see you smile

So this is Kyle. We've been together for almost 6 1/2 years, seems like FOREVER! Anyway, that's not what my post is about.

It seems like Kyle hasn't seen any good movies!! His friends can quote every movie ever made. So I've decided that for the next however many weeks it takes, I plan to make him watch all of the movies I find hilarious. Most of the movies are with Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, etc. ... that whole crew of comedic actors. Here is my list so far. I'm always looking for more comedy suggestions though!

1. The Ugly Truth
2. Knocked Up
3. Superbad
4. 40 Year Old Virgin
5. I Love You Man
6. Role Models
7. Pineapple Express (even though he's already seen it, it's always a good one to rewatch)
8. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
9. Anchorman
10. Ok I have no 10th movie (I'd love a suggestion though) I just needed a #10 to my list

Well that's all I have so far, hopefully I can come up with some more. I'm excited to start Sunday movie night! I suppose I will blog about each movie after we watch them.

UPDATE: I purchased Talladega Nights on ebay for less than a dollar thanks to Megan's suggestion! There's only a few more on my list that I actually need to buy (Role Models, Pineapple Express, I Love You Man) hopefully I'll win those bids on ebay for less than a dollar too! Let Sunday movie nights begin!!!

Let It Be

So it's getting close (well 2 months close) to BONNAROOOOOOO again!!! I cannot wait! For those that don't know, Bonnaroo is a 4 day music festival that you camp out at. Basically, you spend 4 days with 10,000 of your closest friends enjoying the outdoors, drinking beer, looking at all kinds of different art projects, focus on going green, and appreciate a ton of great music! Last year we spent the entire time just enjoying life. There were no strict schedules, no electronics or technology, just us and the outdoors. This year has a great line-up including Jay Z, Weezer, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band AND OF COURSE Conan O'Brien!! Did I mention that I was pumped?!?!?

In the spirit of the giant hippie fest that is Bonnaroo, here are some inspiration pictures for my trip!

Tonight we're gonna party like it's 1999

The other day at work we were talking about classic things, toys, styles, tv shows, etc. So we decided for the next list to do a list of childhood favorites! Even though I was born in the 80's, I was predominantly a 90's kid and I LOVED my childhood (even my mullet phase shown below this post). I am an only child but I always found ways to entertain myself and I always wanted friends to come to my house to play because I thought I always had all the cool stuff!

So here's to the 90's!!!
1. My Tired Tom Doll [I have no idea what the original name of this doll was but to this day I still have mine and I was even able to find a new one on ebay that I bought just so I could have an original maybe to give to my child?] Tired Tom
2. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen [I LOOOOVED old Mk&A ... not so much now]
3. Beauty and the Beast [best Disney movie EVER]
4. Lisa Frank anything [but especially folders and pencils]
5. Spirograph
6. Old Nickelodeon shows [anything from Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Ah Real Monsters, Salute your Shorts, Are You Afraid of the Dark, All That, old Rugrats pre Kimi, anything with Stick Stickly]
7. Legos
8. Always rocking a topsy tail, even during my mullet phase
11. Babysitters Club
12. Easy Bake Oven
13. Super Nintendo and ANY game that went with it! [Mostly Super Mario World, Mario Kart, Dr. Mario and Zelda]
14. Tomagatchis
15. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
16. The Skip-It contests my best friend and I used to have
17. Eureka's Castle
18. Polly Pockets
19. Mad Libs [I mean I was kind of a nerd, but these things still make me laugh]
20. Magna Doodles

I think that I wouldn't be as happy if I didn't grow up in the 90's. I believe I rocked my childhood!!!

Viva Las Vegas

Well it's been a while since I've blogged! That's because I've been in VEGASSSSS!!!!!! It was so much fun! I'll try and post some pictures in the next couple days. However, I just got a new camera and I'm not sure how much I like it. I think I just need to read the directions and figure it out.

Anyway, while we were there we saw the traveling Price is Right show! Sadly Kyle or I never got called down BUT it was still a blast. We got to yell out numbers and prices to the lucky people that did get called. We also saw the amazing Criss Angel Believe show. It's put on my Cirque du Soleil so we knew it would be awesome. They had creepy dancing rabbits, that was by far my favorite part!

This video is not great quality and it's actually at So You Think You Can Dance, but it's one of the same dances and I love love looove it!

Other than those 2 shows we did lots of walking and just looking around in hotels. You can walk around in the same hotel for hours!

On another note ...Tomorrow is my last day of spring break (well besides the weekend) before I have to go back to work. My lovely BFF newgravy and one of our other friends are going to hunt Atlanta for bubble tea!

I really think none of us have much of an idea what bubble tea is. We just see it a lot and there's lots of flavors to choose from and well it makes for pretty pictures. =) Maybe I can check the web for some suggestions of bubble tea places and flavors to try. Whatever our adventure ends up turning into, I know it'll be fun!!!
Next post will hopefully be my list for the week, it's a fun one that newgravy picked out again so I'm looking forward to making it!

Walkin' on Sunshine

It's almost the end of March, hello sun ... where are you?!?!? Since it's yet another dull, cold, rainy, gloomy day, I decided to at least incorporate sunshine (well you know, bright yellow) on here somehow so I least I can pretend I'm being inspired by the sun!

I'll be there for youuuuu ....

In the spirit of my last post about lists I just need to share my love for Friends! I own seasons 1-10, I've watched all 10 seasons straight through almost 3 times plus all the millions of repeats I watch on TV, I DOMINATE Friends Scene It? against ANYONE, sometimes (well a lot) I consider naming my child Emma, and finally any man that wants to propose to me the exact same way Monica and Chandler proposed to each other with the million trillion candles (but minus me proposing to him first) will get a yes! It's a little obsessive really.

I have way too many favorite Friends moments to pick from that I'd want to post videos of. So as hard as it is, I think I'm going to choose the 3 funniest moments (to me anyway) to share! So enjoy ... =)

The One With All the Resolutions
"If the paste matches the pants then you can make yourself a pair of paste pants and she won't know the difference"

The One Where Everybody Finds Out
I don't have a quote, I just like when Ross jumps, it makes me laugh out loud every time!

and finally, my ALL time favorite moment ...

The One With Pheobe's Uterus
"7...7...7...777777...seven"

Thank You For Bein a Friend

Wow I haven't blogged in a long time. I stink! I have been pretty busy, and haven't felt too inspired to blog anyway. But now I have a reason. Megan and I love lists (her probably a lot more than me). So we decided we are going to blog new lists ever week. They are all going to be random. Probably a lot of top 10 stuff. But hopefully it will be pretty interesting to see, and maybe after a while some people will give us ideas for more interesting lists!

I like this week's list a lot. We both schedule a lot of our activities around the opportunity to live vicariously through some of our favorite tv characters. Sometimes television life seems much more interesting than my own. =) So this week's list is ...

TV Besties!!!
Here are my top 10 tv friendships that I have grown to love over the seasons. Enjoy =)

1. Friends
[Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Pheobe, and Joey]
I couldn't pick a favorite in this cast. I love them all and Friends will ALWAYS be my favorite sitcom!!!

2. How I Met Your Mother
[Lily, Marshall, Ted, Robin, Barney]
This group of friends cracks me up! I also love that like Central Perk on Friends, the HIMYM cast has McClarens bar, I wish I lived above somewhere I could hang out with my friends all the time!)

3. Sex and the City
[Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha]
These girls are tried and true New Yorkers. Even though I've sadly never been to New York I know I would find a way to fit in PERFECTLY in the city. I would definitely need a group of girls like this to keep me entertained though! =)

4. One Tree Hill
[Haley and Lucas]
I love that they've been friends forever and no matter what they are always there for each other through all of the drama One Tree Hill has to offer.

5. Dawson's Creek
[Dawson and Joey]
I will have to admit, I'm very glad in the end Joey picked Pacey because I LOVED her and Dawson as friends more than the 2 of them as a couple!

6. Fresh Prince
[Will and Carlton]
Ever since I moved to Ga, I've been best friends with my cousin so I love the relationship of these 2. We're not quite as much of polar opposites as Will and Carlton however, I love that no matter how much they pick on each other, they always stick up for the other.

7. Gossip Girl
[Dan and Vanessa]
It was a hard decision for me on Gossip Girl and I know that now D and V are more than just friends BUT I love the 2 of them together no matter what they are!

8.Grey's Anatomy
[Christina and Meredith]
These 2 have such busy work lives that it's great that no matter what they always have each other to lean on and they spend so much time together they usually can relate to what the other's going through. They will always be each other's "person."

9. Boy Meets World
[Corey and Sean]
Boy Meets World will always be one of the greatest shows. I'm glad that through everything Corey and Sean always stuck together and were basically brothers!

10. I Love Lucy
[Lucy and Ethel]
Lucy and Ethel will always be a classic. I can remember my best friend from Iowa and I watching I Love Lucy reruns on Nick at Night for hours. The friendship of these 2 never ceases to make me laugh!

Well that's all for the first list! Ha there probably won't be as much detail next time but it was still fun to make!

Here Comes the Sun

So this week has seemed like it has lasted FOREVER!! However, I'm very glad to end the week on a good note today with the sun shining!! I feel like I got a lot accomplished today, maybe the good weather was motivating me not to stay in my bed all morning! This weekend is supposed to be really nice too! I think we're going to take Jack (my dog) to the dog park tomorrow, should be pretty interesting!

Anyway, here are some fabulous finds I posted for Friday since I'm stuck here at work on such a nice evening! Enjoy ...

I love this Mad Hatter Painting!
(I made Kyle go see the new Alice in Wonderland with me, I LOVED it as well ... and surprisingly he liked it a lot too)

This organized room with beautiful spring colors!

This frozen yogurt looks DELICIOUS even with all the extra candy piled on top!

I love this person's wedding pictures, and I like that her bridesmaids all look different. It just looks more fun!
HOT! by laurenlemon.

Finally, I don't ever wear bangles like this because I have a major fear that they will get stuck on my hand but I would own all of these just so they would look beautiful on my wall like this!!! =)
